Dear Sis Huba,

I was saved filled with Holy Ghost and baptized in Jesus name in 95. At the time my daughter was 4 yrs old. In 2004 I had lost my grandma and mom 3 months apart and was going through a lot so in process i backslid as well as my kids. Daughter was 12 at this time. She has received Holy Ghost  when she was 10 and was baptized same day. Now that I am back in church, been back not for over a year I am having major issues with my daughter. She refuses to wear her dresses and skirts other then church and wants to cut her hair off. I know this is all my fault but I don't want her to be lost because of my past. She is now 18 yrs old but has the mind of a 15 yr old as she is mentally delayed. I am at my wits end and don't know what to do....any advice you can give will be great. Thanks and God Bless You.

Sis Beth

You have to start today and forget the past.  Let her know you did wrong by going back and now you realize that.  You are talking about 6 years of attitudes and habits have been developed.

Pray, pray and pray.  You are not just dealing with your daughter’s dressing preferences, but with spiritual warfare.  Ask God to give her a love for his principles and the desire to be a Godly young lady for him.  Believe me you are not the only mother out there fighting the battle.  You are not alone.  Ask God for specific direction.  Seek counsel from your Pastor and wife and ask for encouragement from your daughter’s youth pastor and wife also.

Holiness is a battle worth fighting for.  Do everything you can to help her be stylish, with her hair and with her wardrobe.  Get her around others who love and believe in separation like our AG girls.  Also keep them in a Godly environment at home and involved in church events!
